Francesca Harden

I am an experienced couple and individual psychotherapist and offer support to anyone facing challenges in their close relationships.  I completed my postgraduate training with Tavistock Relationships. Tavistock is a renowned centre of excellence for couples therapy. I continue to practice there as a Visiting Clinician and Assessor.  I am also a member of a small clinical team offering relationship support to NHS staff.  I am a registered member of the BACP, and a graduate member of the Tavistock Relationships Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors (TRACP).

My core approach is psychodynamic. This means that alongside exploring current anxieties and difficulties, we might also think about past experiences and patterns of relating.  The approach often provides valuable insight into why things might feel repetitive or ‘stuck’. It can unlock greater understanding and empathy for yourself and each other leading to lasting change.  I also offer my clients ways to explore and improve daily communication and interaction, using a mentalisation-based approach.  We will consider pre-existing strengths and resilience in your relationship, and how you might draw on these in the face of current challenges.

I have experience of a diverse range of clients in terms of background, culture, age, and sexuality.  Here are some of the areas I offer support with:

Above all I offer a non-judgemental, supportive space in which your feelings and concerns will be thought about safely and with sensitivity.
