Japanese by birth, I have lived in the UK since 1970. I am a fully insured member of the British Acupuncture Council.
I obtained Bachelor’s Degree in Acupuncture in 1987, with the International College of Oriental Medicine, then the only college offering a full-time 4-year course in this country. I joined the Brackenbury team immediately after my graduation. Since then I have continued further studies at the post-graduate level here in Europe, in China and Japan.
The type of acupuncture I practise is Toyohari style, originally developed by blind practitioners in Japan, based on the classical theory. It is known for its most gentle needling, yet very powerful effects.
I am a member of the European branch of the Toyohari Association, which has worldwide branches. In our regular branch meetings we continue to strive to hone our skills and make further research into various aspects of our treatment methods so we can offer even better results to all our patients.
I have also completed courses both in Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine and Japanese Kanpo Herbal Medicine, and I prescribe pre-formulated herbs where appropriate. However, my primary passion has always been acupuncture.
The illnesses I treat range from digestive, respiratory and gynaecological problems to neurological and post-operative conditions, as well as colds, diarrhoea and skin problems, not to mention all types of pains and aches of both rheumatic and musculo-skeletal nature. I also use acupuncture to treat emotional imbalances such as depression and anxiety. Many people come for stress and its many related signs like stiff shoulders, twitching muscles, headaches and insomnia.
FERTILITY TREATMENT WITH ACUPUNCTURE
In China, acupuncture has been used to treat infertility for many thousands of years and more recently, its effectiveness has been scientifically researched and widely recognised in this country as well. I have been treating this problem since I qualified. Acupuncture is also very effective in conjunction with Western infertility treatments such as IVF, IUI and ICSI and it treats contributory causes of infertility such as PCOS, high FSH and Endometriosis.
