Welcome. I am counsellor Adam Day. Firstly I’d like to say that it can be highly anxiety provoking for any person choosing to engage in counselling, and I have the utmost respect for any individual courageous enough to take such an important step in understanding themselves. I aim to offer individuals the opportunity to explore themselves freely and openly without being judged and, possibly for the first time in their lives, the experience of actually being listened to.
In my experience within and outside the therapy room in ‘normal’ day to day lives, most people feel anything but ‘normal’. As human beings we are constantly managing others’ expectations of us, feeling like we need to adopt various guises with different people and in different situations in order to be accepted. Consequently we can start to feel lonely, isolated and uncertain, resulting in the question,‘who am I?’
My aim is to build a trusting therapeutic relationship whereby you can begin to free yourself of your troubles by working towards self acceptance. There is no time-frame on how many sessions are needed. Each individual has unique thoughts/emotions, sensations and experiences to explore in sessions so whether you choose long or short term therapy is down to your own volition.
I hold a BSc (Hons) First Class Degree in Counselling which included training in several different approaches including Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural, Transpersonal and Psychodynamic.
